Democracy Lost

Kids/Teens are oblivious to the dangers of their online activities.

Most adults that I know would rather close their eyes/plug their ears to what is happening in this country so that they can continue to exist in their comfortable ignorance/inertia.

The chickens will come home to roost, regardless.

In tomorrow's print edition of the New York Times, more wicked details of the US's domestic spying operations will be revealed.

It will reveal that the NSA, since 2010, has been building graphs of American citizens' "social connections that can identify their associates, their locations at certain times, their traveling companions and other personal information."

Some will argue, "..but it keeps us safe from terrorists.." but is this really so?

The American citizens being spied upon are NOT suspected of any wrongdoing, and the surveillance graphs are built using "material from public, commercial and other sources, including bank codes, insurance information, Facebook profiles, passenger manifests, voter registration rolls and GPS location information, as well as property records and unspecified tax data." How is spying on innocent people keeping us safe from terrorists? Something doesn't compute here, folks. Are we in the early stages of American fascism?
