Right wing elements in in power have referred to immigrants as invaders. That is as old as immigration in this country. What is new is arguing that the country is legally under invasion in a way that satisfies different laws that were passed at different times in the country's history, almost always when it was at war, or powers that were invoked that require the country to be under invasion in the real legal sense by a foreign force. That's new, the legal argument.
